On Oct. 13, six Republican and six Democratic senators wrote to Trump saying the move would have a negligible effect on fuel prices while the revenue would finance Russia's war, and asked him to change course. Trump said he likes anything that could help farmers and ranchers. Energy experts also say Russian diesel is unlikely to lower US prices.

Police do not yet know whether the attack was random or targeted, and the suspect has not been caught.

KING 5 reported on Oct. 13 that the Washington Poison Center is warning that some herbal supplements labelled cat's claw are counterfeit and contain concentrated chemicals derived from kratom that act on the same brain receptors as morphine and fentanyl. Poison centers around the country, including Washington's, have treated people who overdosed or had severe withdrawal after taking them, and Utah has confirmed four deaths. The products have turned up in vape shops, gas stations, convenience stores and online.

金县(King County)大选选票今天寄出
King County general election ballots go out today
据伦顿记者报(Renton Reporter)报道，金县(King County)11月大选的选票10月14号寄出，投票箱第二天开放。选票最晚要在选举日11月3号投进投票箱，或者在当天以前盖上邮戳寄回，结果11月24号认证。不清楚自己属于哪个选区，可以上金县网站用「查找我的选区」工具查，入了籍的长者别忘了填票。

KING 5 checked the footage: the roughly $120 on the register was for a 24-pack of canned meat, not one can, and the transaction failed for lack of the correct PIN; the video shows an attempt to misuse food stamps but does not establish that the store knew or took part. The station also notes that food stamp trafficking has long happened around the store, and police investigations in 2014 and 2025 both named the market, though neither found the business took part.

华州的选举以邮寄为主：选票直接寄到每位登记选民家里，在家填好后，可以投进各处的专用投票箱，也可以盖邮戳寄回，不用排队去投票站。今年金县的选票10月14号寄出，投票箱第二天开放，选举日是11月3号。
Washington runs its elections mainly by mail: ballots go straight to every registered voter's home, and once filled in they can be dropped in a ballot drop box or mailed back with a postmark, with no queue at a polling station. This year King County ballots go out on Oct. 14, drop boxes open the next day, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
