CDC figures show Washington has 24 cases in a salmonella outbreak tied to broccoli sprouts and sprouting seeds, the most of any state, followed by Montana with four. In the US, shelf prices usually do not include sales tax; it is added as a percentage at checkout. The state and local governments each levy it and rates vary, so the same item can cost a different amount in different cities. King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn says the county has the highest sales tax in the nation; after this increase Seattle's rate will be 10.56%.
标价不含税，是因为税率各地不同，商家没法在全国统一的价签上写一个含税价；把税单独列出来，也让顾客清楚看到自己交了多少给政府。
Prices exclude tax because rates differ from place to place, so a nationwide price tag cannot show one tax-inclusive figure; listing the tax separately also shows shoppers exactly how much goes to the government.
