据KIRO七台10月1号报道，连锁店Sumo Sushi在柯克兰(Kirkland)东北116街的分店9月25号清晨五点半被人砸碎玻璃门闯入，9月27号清晨肯特(Kent)罗素路(Russell Road)的分店也被撬，两处都丢了平板电脑、工作设备和现金。对本地开餐馆、开小店的华人来说，打烊后店里尽量不留现金和平板电脑。两地警方正在查两起案子是否有关联。

KIRO 7 reported on Oct. 1 that a burglar smashed the glass door of the Sumo Sushi Grill off NE 116th Street in Kirkland around 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 25, and the Sumo Sushi on Russell Road in Kent was broken into early on Sept. 27; iPads, work equipment and cash were taken from both. For Chinese families who run restaurants or small shops here, leave as little cash and as few tablets as possible inside after closing. Police in both cities are checking whether the two break-ins are linked.

西雅图建筑检查局91%的预算靠收许可费，上一轮已涨了18%；据The Urbanist10月1号报道，市长威尔逊(Katie Wilson)的2027年预算提案里又要再涨10.7%，正由市议会审议。建筑和土地使用许可费普遍上调，自家加盖或翻修申请许可时也可能多花钱。以一个四户联排屋项目为例，许可费2年里从12214美元涨到15953美元。

Seattle's construction and inspections department gets 91% of its budget from permit fees, which rose 18% in the last round; The Urbanist reported on Oct. 1 that Mayor Katie Wilson's proposed 2027 budget adds another 10.7%, now before the City Council. Building and land use permit fees are rising across the board, so families adding on or remodeling may pay more to apply. For a four-unit townhouse project, fees rise from $12,214 to $15,953 over two years.

Kirkland council to take up a higher minimum wage on Oct. 6

据The Urbanist10月1号刊登的一篇评论文章，柯克兰(Kirkland)市议会10月6号将讨论是否改变本市的最低工资，文章作者主张采用金县非建制区的标准。华州最低工资现在是每小时17块一毛三，文章说西雅图、伦顿(Renton)、埃弗里特(Everett)等地都比柯克兰高三块到四块半，家里有人在餐馆、商店打工的会受影响。文章称，柯克兰是东区头一个考虑这件事的城市。

According to an op-ed The Urbanist ran on Oct. 1, the Kirkland City Council will take up on Oct. 6 whether to change the city's minimum wage; the authors want it to adopt unincorporated King County's standard. The state minimum is $17.13 an hour, and the piece says Seattle, Renton, Everett and others pay $3 to $4.50 more than Kirkland, which matters for family members working in restaurants and stores. It calls Kirkland the first Eastside city to consider the change.

默瑟岛(Mercer Island)学区拟发3500万学校债券

Mercer Island schools plan a $35 million bond

1年半前默瑟岛(Mercer Island)学区1.65亿美元的学校债券没有通过，据默瑟岛报10月1号报道，学区这次改提3500万的小债券，专修默瑟岛高中的暖通空调、火警系统和无障碍设施，预计明年2月交选民表决。学校董事会主席伯内特(Stephanie Burnett)说，空调系统要是坏了，高中可能得关掉一半，直接影响孩子上课。董事会定于10月8号一读决议、10月22号正式表决。

A year and a half after a $165 million school bond failed, the Mercer Island Reporter said on Oct. 1 that the district is planning a smaller $35 million bond focused on Mercer Island High School's heating and ventilation, fire alarms and accessibility, likely on the ballot next February. Board president Stephanie Burnett said that if the HVAC system failed, half the high school might have to close, which would hurt students' learning. The board will hold a first reading on Oct. 8 and vote on Oct. 22.

六位画家坐金县公交 把沿线人情画成漫画

Six artists ride King County buses to turn routes into comics

据Cascade PBS10月2号报道，六位艺术家正在坐金县公交(King County Metro)的RapidRide快线，把沿线的人和地方、乘客之间的小片刻画成漫画，这个公共艺术项目叫「Moving Series」。金县公交说，目的是让大家看到各条快线经过的社区各有各的样子。常坐公交的长辈，下回在车上遇到拿着画本的人，说不定正在画这一路的街坊。

Cascade PBS reported on Oct. 2 that six artists are riding King County Metro's RapidRide lines and drawing the people, places and small moments between riders as comics, in a public art project called Moving Series. King County Metro says the goal is to show the distinct neighborhoods each line runs through. Seniors who ride the bus may spot someone with a sketchbook drawing the neighbors along the route.

Inspector general reviews Seattle police cameras, including the Chinatown-International District

去年春天，西雅图警方在唐人街国际区装了几十个高科技监控摄像头；据西北亚洲周报10月1号报道，市监察长办公室的新报告查了唐人街国际区、市中心和极光大道(Aurora Avenue)三处截至2025年的录像，保存下来的片段98%与严重犯罪或优先报警有关，没用人脸识别，日常录像约留五天。报告也指出漏洞：警员不填案件号就能看实时画面。至于摄像头能不能减少犯罪，宾夕法尼亚大学的研究预计2027年底才有结果。

Seattle police installed dozens of high-tech cameras in the Chinatown-International District last spring; Northwest Asian Weekly reported on Oct. 1 that a new Office of Inspector General review of footage through 2025 in the CID, downtown and along Aurora Avenue found 98% of saved clips involved serious crimes or high-priority 911 calls, no facial recognition was used, and routine footage is kept about five days. It also found a gap: officers can view live feeds without entering a case number. Whether the cameras reduce crime is unanswered; a University of Pennsylvania study is expected by late 2027.
