State Patrol investigates car driven on the I-90 bike and walking trail

I-90步道是连接西雅图和贝尔维尤(Bellevue)的一条10英里铺装小路，只供步行和骑车，不许机动车进入。据KOMO电视台报道，9月10日周四下午一点刚过，有人拍到一辆白色轿车在步道进西雅图方向的封闭路段上行驶，视频在网上传开，华州巡警(Washington State Patrol)正在调查。在这条步道上散步的长者也要留意身后动静，发现机动车闯入，记下时间地点后报警。

The I-90 trail is a 10-mile paved path linking Seattle and Bellevue, open only to people walking and biking. KOMO reports that just after 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, someone filmed a white car driving on the enclosed stretch heading into Seattle; the video went viral and the Washington State Patrol is investigating. Seniors who walk the trail should stay aware of what is behind them and, if a vehicle comes onto the path, note the time and place and report it.

塔科马(Tacoma)女子停车看手机 遭少年持枪劫车

8月28日，塔科马(Tacoma)一名女子刚下16号公路，在南联合大道(South Union)和31街附近停车、用手机点餐，身上突然出现一个红色激光点，三名少年围上来，其中至少两人持枪，把她拽下车、把车开走。据KIRO 7报道，警方次日找到被抢的车，追车后抓获几名少年，车内搜出枪支；KING 5报道，皮尔斯县检方已起诉两名分别为16岁和14岁的少年。路边停车低头看手机时最容易被人盯上，停车先锁门、多看一眼四周，一旦被持枪威胁，先保人身安全，不要反抗。

On Aug. 28 a Tacoma woman had just left Highway 16 and pulled over near South Union and 31st Street to order food on her phone when a red laser dot appeared on her body; three boys, at least two of them armed, forced her out and drove off in her car. KIRO 7 reports police found the car the next day and caught the juveniles after a chase, with guns inside; KING 5 reports Pierce County prosecutors charged two teens, 16 and 14. Stopping to look at a phone is when drivers are easiest to target: lock the doors, look around, and if threatened with a gun, comply and stay safe.

Goodwill是美国常见的慈善旧货店，把大家捐的旧物便宜卖出，收入用来办免费的就业培训；据《西雅图时报》报道，经营华州西部22家门店的Evergreen Goodwill近年累计亏损超过2200万美元，截至2025年6月的1年就亏了930万美元，主因是最低工资上涨而收入跟不上。它已关掉埃弗雷特(Everett)一家门店和五个培训中心里的三个，7月裁掉一半培训教育人员，还在试用人工智能给捐赠物品定价。不少移民初到美国时在这里上过就业培训课，如今培训集中在西雅图和埃弗雷特两个中心，惠特科姆、斯卡吉特和基察普三县的学员可以改上网课。

Goodwill is a familiar charity thrift chain that sells donated goods cheaply to fund free job training; The Seattle Times reports Evergreen Goodwill, which runs 22 stores in Western Washington, has lost more than $22 million in recent years, including $9.3 million in the year ending June 2025, mainly because rising minimum wages outpaced revenue. It has closed an Everett store and three of its five job-training centers, laid off half its training and education staff in July, and is testing AI to price donations. Many immigrants took job classes there when they arrived; training is now concentrated at the Seattle and Everett centers, with remote classes available for students in Whatcom, Skagit and Kitsap counties.

普亚勒普(Puyallup)教师投票批准新合同

Puyallup teachers vote to ratify a new contract

美国公立学校教师的合同由工会和学区谈判，谈成后还要全体会员投票批准才算数。据KIRO 7报道，普亚勒普(Puyallup)学区的教师已投票批准与学区的新合同，谈判一直拖到接近工会定下的9月13日期限，那是教师愿意在没有合同的情况下继续上课的最后一天。家里有孙辈在该学区上学的，开学后的教学不必再为一份没谈妥的合同悬着心。

American public school teachers' contracts are bargained between the union and the district, and a deal still needs a vote of the members to take effect. KIRO 7 reports Puyallup teachers have voted to ratify a new contract with the district after talks ran close to Sept. 13, the deadline the union had set for how long teachers would work without a contract. Families with grandchildren in the district no longer need to worry that classes hang on an unsettled contract.

West Seattle Vietnamese Cultural Center holds Children's Moonlight Festival

越南人过中秋以孩子为主角，这个节也叫儿童月光节；9月12日周六下午，西西雅图(West Seattle)的越南文化中心办了这场节会，伯里恩(Burien)的武术馆Vovinam Burien来舞狮、表演武术，中心主任李·裴(Lee Bui)说这是一场「孩子们的节日」。重头戏是发灯笼，一位扮成民间故事里公主的演员领着孩子们提灯绕中心走了一圈。这个中心在西南果园街2236号(2236 SW Orchard)，1年办好几场公开活动，很多个周六中午12点到下午三点对外开放；灯会已经办完，平时想带孙辈认识越南邻居文化的，可以挑开放的周六去。

Vietnamese families center the Mid-Autumn Festival on children, and it is also called the Children's Moonlight Festival; on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 12, the Vietnamese Cultural Center in West Seattle held one, with lion dancing and a martial-arts demonstration by Vovinam Burien, and director Lee Bui called it a celebration of children. The centerpiece was a lantern giveaway, followed by a lantern parade around the grounds led by a folk-tale princess. The center, at 2236 SW Orchard, holds several public events a year and is open to visitors many Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m., the festival is over, but those open Saturdays are a chance to introduce grandchildren to their Vietnamese neighbors' culture.

方特勒罗伊(Fauntleroy)至瓦雄岛渡轮航线恢复三船运行

Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth ferry route returns to three boats

华州渡轮的「三角航线」连接西西雅图的方特勒罗伊(Fauntleroy)码头、瓦雄岛(Vashon)和索斯沃思(Southworth)，过去一周只有两条船在跑。据西西雅图博客报道，维修完毕的「西尔斯号」9月14日周一归队，航线恢复三船运行。不过只维持几个星期：「基蒂塔斯号」10月初要进坞保养，日期未定，届时又改成两船定班加一条不定班的船，去岛上探亲的要提前查好班次。

Washington State Ferries' Triangle Route links the Fauntleroy dock in West Seattle, Vashon and Southworth, and it ran with only two boats for the past week. West Seattle Blog reports the M/V Sealth, finished with maintenance and repairs, rejoins the route on Monday, Sept. 14, restoring three-boat service. It will last only a few weeks: the M/V Kittitas goes in for scheduled maintenance in early October, date not set, and the route will then run two scheduled boats plus a third unscheduled one, so anyone visiting the island should check the schedule ahead.
