On Sept. 6 Iran claimed it had struck an unmanned U.S. vessel, which U.S. Central Command denied.

Seattle police were called to the 2900 block of S Holly Street at 9:29 p.m. on Sept. 2 and found more than 40 spent shell casings in the road and in the park beside it. Police say two cars pulled into the intersection and people in the cars and in the park shot at each other; five homes and three vehicles were hit and nobody was injured. One neighbour's mother and brother got through it flat on an upstairs floor — which is the right move: drop, get away from windows, and call 911 once the shooting stops.

Light rail runs across the I-90 floating bridge over Lake Washington, and hanging into the water beneath it are strings of anodes — a system that uses a low electrical current to keep the bridge's metal from corroding. On Aug. 3 the state transportation department told Sound Transit that dead fish had been found near them; the agency sent dive teams, brought in fish biologists and engineers, concluded the anode strings were touching the lakebed, and by Aug. 23 had raised the cables clear of the bottom. Sound Transit says it will keep monitoring with tribal fisheries managers and hopes to pin down the root cause in the next several weeks before settling on a permanent fix.

塔科马(Tacoma)一户人家查出101只猫
101 cats found in one Tacoma house; the shelter needs emergency fosters
9月1号，塔科马(Tacoma)警察去东北29街一户人家做安全查访，在屋里发现101只猫。这些猫送到塔科马与皮尔斯县人道协会之后，那里照看的猫和小猫已经超过500只，人手和笼位都不够，正在找愿意临时寄养的人家。家里有地方又喜欢猫的，上网查一下这家协会的寄养页面，暂时养一两个月也算帮上忙。
On Sept. 1 Tacoma police went to a house off 29th Street Northeast for a welfare check and found 101 cats inside. After they went to the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, that shelter is now caring for more than 500 cats and kittens and is short of both staff and cage space, so it is asking for temporary foster homes. If you have room and like cats, look up the shelter's fostering page — even a month or two of care helps.

美国人家里常有第二个冰柜，多半摆在车库或地下室，专门放大份量买回来的肉。
Many American households keep a second freezer, usually in the garage or basement, for meat bought in bulk.
合买份额这套做法，说白了是把中间商去掉：报道里那位农场负责人说，斯诺夸尔米河谷的牛，大多数就是这么直接卖给吃的人的。可省钱的前提是放得下——报道里一位买主每年买四分之一头，冻起来吃满12个月，一次花800到1000美元。100多磅肉，厨房那台冰箱装不下，所以车库那台冰柜才有了位置。
A beef share is really just the middleman removed: the farm manager in the story says most cattle in the Snoqualmie Valley are sold this way, straight to the people who eat them. The saving only works if you can store it — one buyer in the story takes a quarter share each year, spends $800 to $1,000, and freezes it to last twelve months. A kitchen fridge will not hold well over a hundred pounds of meat, which is where the garage freezer earns its place.
